Hunnell
Don Hunnell is the founder and head instructor of the Modesto Grappling Club. Don Hunnell started his wrestling career in 1986 by wrestling for Modesto High School under the late John Miller and then for Modesto Junior College under Lee Ehler. After college, Don took up Judo and earned his Brown Belt under Tom Prata. In his mid twenties, he began to coach wrestling at the High School level for Linden, Downey and Johansen High School. Following the popularity of the U.F.C. in 2001, Don began to train in Submission Wrestling and Russian Sombo and later went on to train in Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu earning his Blue Belt under Professor Flavio Behring. In 2005, Don began to instruct Russian Sambo and Grappling. In 2007, Don founded the Modesto Grappling Club. Presently, Don trains in Submission Grappling, Wrestling, Sambo and M.M.A, in conjunction with coaching his wrestlers at his club.
Assistant Instructor
Mike Catlett is an assistant instructor at the Modesto Grappling Club. Mike has been involved in grappling and striking arts for most of his adult life. Presently, he holds a brown belt in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Mike has been a dedicated coach and member of the club since 2008.
The Modesto Grappling Club was founded by Don Hunnell and is dedicated to serving the youth and adults of this community by providing a safe and friendly environment that contributes to the physical, and overall development of each individual.
